St. LOUIS (Nov. 30, 2023) — At their Check Presentation Celebration on November 15, Pedal the Cause announced a new venue and courses for their 2024 cycling event after hosting their ride in Chesterfield since 2015. Organizational leadership embarked on a multi-year search to find the best possible home to allow thousands of riders to safely take to the roads while offering room for the organization to grow, expand regionally and increase their impact. Ultimately, they found the Family Arena in St. Charles would offer an enhanced ride village experience and access to exciting new courses, putting rider safety as priority one.
“Next year marks the 15th year of Pedal the Cause and we have so much to look forward to,” said David Drier, executive director of Pedal the Cause.
“Our new home in St. Charles is emblematic of our growth as a regional event: Courses cross 3 counties, 2 states and 2 major rivers. Not only will the courses provide a safer, less crowded and scenic experience for our riders, but our new home gives us room to continue to expand and therefore increase our donation each year to fund vital cancer research. In our new home, the sky is the limit.”
At the Check Presentation Celebration, Pedal the Cause also announced the results of their 2023 fundraising campaign to a packed house at The Factory in Chesterfield. A record-breaking $5,003,916 was donated to Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children’s Hospital to fund the best new ideas in adult and pediatric cancer research.
The donation is the highest ever made in the organization’s 14-year history. Founded in 2010 with the bold model of using 100 percent of public donations to fund world-class cancer research, Pedal the Cause has donated more than $45.8 million, funding 211 adult and pediatric projects. These projects produce groundbreaking results that lead to new treatments, cures, preventions and early detection diagnostics. This “100% model” is made possible by the generous support of sponsors, led by presenting sponsor Edward Jones.
